Amber teething necklaces are a natural analgesic baby teething remedy that has been used for centuries in Europe.

Many amber teething necklaces on the market are made with small, chip-shaped amber beads. These beads provide very little surface area for the absorption of succinic acid (see "how they work", below), and can also be uncomfortable for baby. I have mindfully chosen specific necklaces with round or oval-shaped beads that provide more surface area for succinic acid absorption, which results in more effective pain relief for your baby. The beads are also more comfortable for baby, and are not pointy like chip beads. The necklaces are as pictured, so you can shop confidently knowing that what you see is exactly what you get!
Not just for babies! Amber's pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties make amber a great choice for kids and adults suffering from arthritis, carpel tunnel syndrome, menstrual cramping/afterpains, mid-cycle/ovulation pains, and other conditions that present with inflammation and pain.
How they work
These necklaces are made to be worn (not chewed) by teething babies, and are ideal for both boys and girls. Baltic Amber contains succinic acid, a natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain-reliever). Wearing Baltic amber close to the skin warms the amber, and small amount of succinic acid is absorbed by the skin. These necklaces help calm and soothe teething babies without resorting to drugs. Sounds crazy? I know! But they REALLY work!
For extreme teething pain, consider one of the milky amber necklaces. This type of amber is more rare (and a bit more pricey), but has the highest concentrations of succinic acid of all amber.
Safety
These necklaces are very safe when used with common sense, and really do work!. Do not leave your baby unsupervised while s/he is wearing the necklace. Some parents prefer to remove the necklace at night, doubling it and using it as an anklet under a sock instead. Your baby should not be able to get the necklace into his/her mouth. If the necklace is big enough to fit over your baby's chin, consider tying a knot in it to shorten the necklace until baby grows a bit bigger.
The synthetic plastic clasp with a screw thread is designed to break under pressure in the interests of safety. For safety reasons there is a knot before and after each bead so if the anklet does break, the strand stays intact, preventing loose beads becoming a choking hazard.
Because these pieces of amber jewelrey are designed to break for safety reasons, Enchanted Forest can only accept returns/exchanges on broken necklaces within 14 days of purchase. Enchanted Forest carries spare clasps so that if a clasp happens to break, the customer can repair the necklace. (Only 3 customers have reported clasps breaking in over 300 sold, all of these clasps broke while the caregiver was tightening the clasp). Please care for your amber jewelry well. Beads can break if the jewelry is thrown against a hard surface, steped on, etc.
Sizing
11" necklaces fit most babies from birth to two years. These also make great anklets for adults!
13" necklaces fit most babies from one to four years. These also make great anklets for adults!
15" necklaces fit most kids and young teenagers.
17-20" necklaces fit most teens and adults.
*** Although 11" necklaces fit young babies best, you may choose a 13" necklace for a young baby. Simply tie a knot in the necklace to shorten it to fit your baby when he or she is still small, and untie the knot to make the necklace fit right through toddlerhood.
