PlanToys® was the first company in the world to manufacture toys from reclaimed rubber wood. All PlanToys® are made with clean, natural rubberwood from rubber trees which no longer produce latex, and which were originally a waste product to be burned. Wood is strengthened, non-chemically, in a kilm that is powered by solar and low-emission bio-fuels, and assembled with non-formaldehyde wood glues and, are stained with water based dyes rather than coated with paints that chip, like other wooden toys. All packaging is made of recyled and recylable materials with soy and water based inks. Each year, PlanToys replants over 100,000 rubber trees.
New Planwood Toys
PlanToy's new "Planwood" material takes eco-friendly production one step further- instead of disposing of the sawdust and wood chips created in their classic toy production, Plan created a new way of recycling these materials uses even less energy than their classic toy production! Organic pigments and less than 1% non-formaldehyde E-zero glue are combined with the relaimed rubberwood materials, and pressure-moulded to create safe, water- and stain-resist resitant toys. The resulting PlanWood toys are high-density (much, much more durable than medium density fibres, or MDF), and because of their extreemly low moisture content, they are fungus-resistant too. And a huge bonus- Planwood toys are dishwasher-safe, a feature that caregivers LOVE!
